  • Inline with the values and ethics of The Photography Foundation, who organise and manage the awards, the barriers for entry t the awards is significantly reduced. We believe awards should be open to all, therefore everyone gets 1 free image.

Overall Winner:

'Photography foundation Awards Photographer of the Year'

The overall winner of the Photography Foundation Awards becomes our Photographer of the year. The overall winner will be selected by the judges from one of the category winners. There will only be one overall winner.

Category Winner:

Voted for by the international panel of judges, each of the awards categories will have one category winner. The voting will be completed independently and anonymously to ensure no conflicts of interest, and each category winner will automatically be entered into the final vote for the overall winner and the ‘Photography Foundation Photographer of the Year’.

Category Runner-up:

Our panel of judges will be voting on the images entered into the competition, which will result in not only a winner for the category, but also a runner-up. The runner-up for each category will not be entered into the overall winner vote, however, will win a selection of great prizes and gain international exposure. There will be one runner-up for each category.

Highly Commended:

There will be a handful of ‘Highly Commended’ awards allocated. These are not category specific and will be awarded to images which didn’t quite reach the winner or runner-up award, but are of very high quality. Being selected as a Highly Commended image is still a fantastic achievement and comes with great prizes and international exposure.

Inline with the values of The Photography Foundation who runs and manages the awards, the Photography Foundation Awards are open to anyone, whether they are a professional photographer or not. We believe in accessibility to the awards and want to celebrate the diversity of images captured.
